Squad 80 is an SUV command vehicle, driven by the Fire Chief . As a command unit, it is usually the first vehicle to arrive on a scene and all fire crews communicate with Squad 80. It is a versatile unit that can go offroad to a brush fire, or just stay on residential streets.
Squad 81 is another SUV that can also be used as a command unit, but it’s other function is as a First Responder. It is driven by the Assistant Fire Chief and is one of the first to arrive on fire scenes or medical calls. Squad 81 is equipped with an AED (automated external defibrillator), and other medical supplies for rapid intervention in case of a medical emergency.
New Rescue 81
Rescue 81 is a Rosenbauer fire engine that, as its name implies, is used in rescue situations, as well as any fire. A crew of 8 can go out on motor vehicle accidents, airplane incidents and many other types of situations. It is equipped with the “Jaws of Life”, which can cut metal and disentangle a trapped person. It has medical equipment on board in addition to the usual fire fighting apparatus.
Engine 82, seen here during cleanup, is an E-One pumper tanker, contains 2000 gallons of water. It is provided to the fire department by Hood County and is the truck which goes out of Pecan to assist other departments when needed.
Engine 83 is a Freightliner fire truck which is the first truck out whenever there is a fire inside Pecan.
There will be more pictures and information to come, which will include the brush trucks and ambulances, but these are the main fire vehicles that residents often see.
